“I titled this piece “Hope In Dark”
A lot of people think ‘positive energy’ is just a natural, happy smile. But to me, true positive energy is that single beam of light you force out from the deepest corner of your soul during your darkest, most soul-crushing moments. This painting records the absolute lowest point of my life.
A wake-up call to set things right: this is ‘Hope In Dark’ through my eyes.
This isn’t a painting that celebrates beautiful things; this is a painting about breaking out of a siege. It’s my ultimate fight back with a paintbrush against scars, setbacks, and betrayal. Please, listen to my story…
First, look at the layers at the very bottom.
Those intersecting, slightly chaotic dark tones and raw lines represent the negative things I’ve been through—the failures that woke me up in the middle of the night, the sharp pain of being betrayed by someone I trusted. I didn’t try to clean them up, because these scars are a part of my life. I made the paint look heavy and suffocating here, just like those days when the air felt too heavy to breathe.
But look at what’s happening right on top of that chaos.
I injected incredibly vibrant, bold yellows, bright oranges, and pure white. This was me making a conscious choice to set things right. When the whole world is trying to drag you down, you have to force yourself to dig deep and find an upward strength. I used my brush to sweep across the canvas with bold, sweeping strokes, just to cut through those negative tangles. These bright colors aren’t just for show; they are my willpower, the proof that I refuse to settle in the valley.
Finally, look at those dancing spots of light in the center.
They look like sparks reassembling after the heart has been shattered. They represent a breakthrough. Only when you’ve gone through complete despair will you realize that positive energy isn’t just an emotion—it’s a choice. I chose to rebuild colors on top of the ruins; I chose to look for that sliver of light in the dark.
I dedicate this piece, “Hope In Dark” to everyone currently struggling in a low point.
I want to tell you: the scars might stay, but they can’t block the light that is about to bloom from you again. As long as you’re willing to pull yourself together, take a step forward, and fight back against the negativity, you are the most dazzling, powerful presence in this painting.
Don’t be afraid. The light is breaking through the chaos right now.”
