“I named this piece “The Mirror In Snow”
The first thing that catches your eye must be the painting inside the painting, right? Only then do you notice the actual winter… am I right?
When most people think of a northern winter, the first things that come to mind are freezing cold, biting snow, and endless, almost depressing days. But in this piece, I wanted to flip that feeling completely. I wanted to turn that ‘coldness’ into a form of ‘focus,’ and wrap it in ‘blessings.’
First, let’s look at this painting-within-a-painting.
As you can see, I layered a smaller canvas right on top of the big background that shows the heavy winter snow. This isn’t just for decoration; it’s a way of saying ‘focus.’ In this chaotic world of endless, blinding blizzards, we often get drowned out by too much noise and lose our way. I deliberately used this small painting to tell you: no matter how big the world is, how thick the snow gets, or how freezing the weather is, you always have the power to choose what to focus on. This little painting is the window to your soul—the exact focus you want to hold onto tightly in your life.
Next, let’s find the warmth inside the freezing cold.
For the large background, I used raw, sweeping brushstrokes to capture the grand scale of a heavy snowfall. But inside the smaller canvas, I made the colors deeper and much more stable. This shows that when you are in an extreme, freezing environment, if you can just quiet your mind, a hopeful warmth and perspective will actually well up inside you. This ability to focus is a true ‘blessing.’ Because when you can find a quiet corner in the middle of a blizzard to look at the people, things, or stories you truly love, the cold stops being a threat—it just becomes a background that highlights the warmth.
When you look at this painting-within-a-painting setup, you are looking at a direct projection of our inner worlds. We live in the vast, real society (the large painting) and, at the very same time, we live in our own exclusive spiritual domain (the small painting).
I hope this visual impact clicks with you. In the winter of our lives, we don’t have to just feel cold. We can feel blessed—because this is exactly the best time to see the true focus of our lives clearly. This isn’t just a winter landscape; it’s a gift of focus and blessing that I made just for you.”
